What is known as passive defences
Defences that are put into precuation to prevent pathogens getting into the plant ceel
1 of 9
What are the different types of physical defences
cellulose cell wall- high tensile strength , callose-large polyscharide which is deposited in the seive plates and hence preventing spread of pathogens, tyrose which is a balloon like structure that block plug of xylem vessels nad hence prevent uptak
2 of 9
further defences
Closure of stroma-when plant cells detect pathogen it cause guard cells to close stroma, wax cuticles allow waterproofing of cell preventing accumalation of water based pathogens from getting into leave,bark=physical/chemicals=taxxins
3 of 9
what are the different types of chemical defenses
Plants have chemicals that have antipathogenic properties Taxxins in the bark and tyrose contains terpes however since it takes alot of energy to produce these chemicals its only used and produced when plant cell detects pathogen
4 of 9
What is the definition of active defences
Active defences are defences that are already present however are maintiained to strengthen the diffences e.g strengthening cell wall by adding more cellulose, producing more chemicals, Callose is depositied between cell wall+membrane and plasmodata
5 of 9
What are opsonins
are proteins that are antibodides which are non specific which emans they bind to antigens on the surface of pathogens and hence enhances the ability to allow phagocyte cells to digest or engulf pathogen, nonspecific which means they can bind any ant
6 of 9
What is the definition of phagosome
This is the term given where a pathogen is enclosed inside a vesicle to allow endocytosis to occur 9transportation of pathogen into the cell and there4 allow digestion of pathogens via release of hydro enzymes from lysosomes in granular cytoplasm
7 of 9
What are macrophages
Largest type of phagocyte cell which has a kidney shaped nucleus that has antigens presented on the surface of the cell (APC) antigen presenting cell!
8 of 9
What are neutrophiles
are white blood cells that have a multilobed nucleus which granular cytoplasm that contains lysomomes=hydroenzymes, They are short lived however can large number can be released as a result of infection, usually die after a few digestion of pathogens
