Name five parts of a balanced diet and state its effect on the body
Protein (amino acids)- to build new tissue for growth and repair. Carbohydrates- for the slow release of energy. Fat- source of stored energy for insulation. Fibre- helps prevent constipation. Vitamins and minerals- for general health.

It is made in the liver and is needed for healthy cell membranes.

For a higher energy needs an person must: have a higher muscle:fat ratio, be bigger in physique,have an active job or do daily exercise.

An under-active thyroid gland, which can lower the metabolic rate and cause obesity. They make inherit factors that affect their cholesterol level.

Name five health problems associated with obesity.
Arthritis (inflammation of the joints), type 2 diabetes (inability to control blood sugar level as insulin is not recognised by the body), high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer.

Name five healthy problems associated with being malnourished.
Slow growth in children, fatigue, poor resistance to infection, irregular periods in women and deficiency diseases such as scurvy or rickets.

We need energy to fuel the chemical reactions in the body that keep it alive.
