+ Bizarre beliefs that seem real to the person with Schizophrenia but are not

+ The person may believe they are under the control of an alien force that has invaded their mind and/body

Hallucinations
+ Bizarre, unreal perceptions of the environment that are usually auditory but may also be visual or tactile

Disordered Thinking
+ The feeling that thoughts have been inserted or withdrawn from their mind and they may believe thoughts are being broadcast so others can see them

Affective flattening
- A reduction in the range and intensity of emotional expression including: facial expression, voice tone, eye contact and body language

Alogia
- Poverty of speech, characterised by lessening of speech fluency and productivity, thought to reflect slowing or blocked thoughts

Avolition
- The reduction of, or inability to initiate and persist in goal-directed behaviour

Positive symptoms (+)
Appear to reflect an excess or distortion of normal functions

Negative symptoms (-)
Appear to reflect a diminution or loss of normal functions, which often persists during periods of low positive symptoms
