Deltas.

?
What Is a Delta?
A large area of sediment deposited by tidal currents and river flow at the estuary.
1 of 6
How are they formed?
When rivers desposit large amounts of sediment they carried in low energy areas where the flows cannot transport them (e.g. at the mouth of a river.)
2 of 6
Name the three components.
Submerged plain - beneath mean water mark, mainly made of Marion sediment. Lower plain - inter-tidal zone, Regularly submerged and made of marine/river desposits.Upper plain - furthest inland, beyond reach of tides and made of river desposits.
3 of 6
Arcuate Delta.
Delta grows seawards by sufficient sediment supplies, and is smoothen by the edges via wave action.
4 of 6
Bird's Foot Delta
Distributaries extend from cost, sediment deposit is greater than current/wave removal.
5 of 6
Cuspate Delta
Shaped by regular calm currents from opposite directions - pointed extension to coastline when sediment builds up.
