Overall definition of Photosynthesis

Photolysis of water produces H+ atom which is stored as a fuel in glucose by combining it with CO2 . Oxygen is also given off as a waste product

Light energy is trapped in excited electrons, these electrons release energy in a series of redox reactions which is used to produce ATP and NADPH during photophosphorylation. Photolysis of water occurs and oxygen is released as a waste product

Reduction of CO2 using the products of the light dependent reaction. (RUBISCO , RuBP,GP,GALP) . The products are simple sugars which are used by plants, animals and other organisms in respiration and the synthesis of new biological molecules
