Specific heat capacity
The amount of energy needed to change the temperature of 1kg of a substance by 1oc.
2 of 12
Power
The rate of energy transfer, measured in Watts, W.
3 of 12
Law of conservation of energy
Energy cannot be created or destroyed. It can only be transferred, stored or dissipated.
4 of 12
Dissipated
When energy spreads out into the atmosphere.
5 of 12
Energy efficiency
The percentage or ratio of useful energy transferred compared to total energy in a system. It is not the amount of useful energy.
6 of 12
Renewable energy resource
The energy resource will not run out or can be produced as quickly as it is being used.
7 of 12
Non-renewable energy resource
The energy resource is limited and will run out. It is being used up faster than it can be produced.
8 of 12
Power Equation
Power = energy ÷ time
9 of 12
Efficiency Equation 1 - Energy
Efficiency = useful energy out ÷ total energy in (x100)
