What is decomposition?
It is when the dead leaves from trees or the droppings from animals break down. micro organisms also play a part in this.

when carbon is passed on through consumers until the final one, where the original carbon is released by respiration back into the atmosphere.

It is used to make carbohydrates, fats and protein to make up the plants body.

Some carbon is released into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide.
