What is cystic fibrosis?

How is it caused?
By a single faulty gene which controls the salt levels, allowing too much salt into the body and not enough water.

What does it result to?
Build up of thick sticky mucus, blocking tubes and passageways.

What does the mucus damage?
Damages the lungs, digestive system and many other organs, resulting in inflammation and repeated infections.

How does Cystic Fibrosis progress?
Gradually gets worse, more likely in getting pneumonia

What challenge(s) is Cystic Fibrosis?
Physical and social. Physical - prevents them from walking which is a daily task, this may be because of the build up of mucus on the chest. Social - may have to attend medical appointments and do their own treatment, less time for social days.
