'And then, after a while, she said, "Christopher, let me hold your hand. Just for once. Just for me. Will you? I won't hold it hard," and she held out her hand.'

She's obviously very emotional, and she asks him for just the smallest morsel of physical affection in return. She knows she can't hug him, but she thinks maybe they can just hold hands, just this once. Christopher, doesn't notice her feelings.

Shows she could be a little unstable and be angry at Christopher or more likely at herself as she has depression

Judy feels sad that Christopher is better without her after she lost her temper and Christopher threw a chopping board and it hit her foot, breaking her toes.

Judy shows her romantic view of the life she could have had if she had not married Ed. This sadly shows that she was not satisfied with life.

It must be hard for Judy to be this honest - she admits failure, in her lack of patience and openly explains to Christopher why she left.
