- minor/lower range of crimes and include offences such as driving and parking offences and are heard by the magistrates court usually within the first hearing judgment often made by post

2) triable either way offences
- middle rang crime and are can be heard by the magistrates court and the crown court and iclde offences like abh etc.
3 of 5
3) inditable offences
- most serios of offences and iclude thing such as murder, manslaughter and **** and are always heard by the crown but have to start in magistrates court as normal procedure

pre trial procedure for summary offences
Cases may be dealt with at first appearance. Usually adjourned as CPS doesn’t have all info needed to proceed, if d wants legal advice or mag want pre-sentence report. When D pleads not guilty, always adjournmed
