An act against the will of God.

Why do we need Law and Justice?
-To keep us safe, to prevent anarchy and conflict, to support human rights and to treat everyone fairly.

What is retribution?
If a punishment gives the criminal what they deserve.

What is protection?
If a punishment protects society from a criminal

What is reform?
If a punishment involves changing a persons behaviour for the better

What is deterrence?
If a punishment puts other off committing a crime

What is reperation?
To make a criminal make amends for the crime they committed.

Why do Christians believe in Justice?
God is just and will judge their behaviour on Judgement Day. Jesus taught us to be fair. The Bible and the New Testament promote justice.

Why do Muslims believe in Justice?
Allah is just, and so was Muhammad. The Quran teaches that Allah wants us to treat people fairly. The fifth pillar of Islam is Zakkah, and it is based on the idea of Justce for all. Shariah promotes it.

What is Capital Punishment?
The death penalty for a crime or offence.

What are some arguments FOR capital punishment?
It protects society, it acts as a deterrent, some crimes are so bad that the criminal cannot be reformed or forgiven, it gives retribution to the victims.

What are some arguments AGAINST capital punishment?
It makes you as bad the criminal, life in prison is worse than death, statistics show that countries that have the death penalty in fact do not have a lower murder rate- so it is not an effective deterrent anyway, the person may be innocent.

What are some Christian views against capital punishment?
Mostly against. Jesus taught to be loving and forgiving and to "turn the other cheek".

What are some Christian views for Capital Punishment?
"an eye for an eye" "whoever sheds mans blood, by man shall his blood be shed"

What are three offences Islam traditionally allows capital punishment for?
Murder, Adultery and Apostasy

What are some reasons Muslims are FOR capital punishment?
Quran. Muhammad sentenced people to death for murder. Shariah law.

What are some reasons Muslims are AGAINST capital punishment?
Human life is sacred, only God can take it away.

What are some Roman Catholic and Angelican attitudes to alcohol and drugs?
Alcohol is acceptable because = Jesus turned water into wine as his first miracle, Jesus drank wine at lat supper and so they drink it in remembrance of him.

What are some Methodist and Salvation Army attitudes to alcohol and drugs?
They do not drink alcohol because they have seen the damage it does to indivuals and their families.

Why do all Christians try not to abuse their bodies with alcohol and drugs?
Because they believe that we are made in the image of God, so it would be disrespecting God.
