Do we make something useful or not useful during fractional distillation of crude oil
We make more long chained less useful hydrocarbons and less small chained more useful hydrocarbons.
1 of 5
An example of the Less useful things we make
We have excess fuel oil and lubricating oils, but not enough petrol
2 of 5
What is cracking
It’s when we crack the longer chains into smaller hydrocarbons
3 of 5
What does cracking need
Aluminium oxide catalyst at 650°
4 of 5
What is formed during cracking
At least one alkene
