What is the importance of the cognitive Key question?
Dyslexia affects 10% of the populations, we need to find the best way to help those suffering to reach their full potential. It is not that they are stupid, it is merely that they do not have the storage in the phonological loop to be able to recall.
1 of 16
Give two pieces of evidence for classroom intervention
1) Relieves the pressure on the phonological loops for all students, therefore they all benefit 2) Improving on a computer may not have a benefit, learn to practise the task not improving their read
2 of 16
Give two pieces of evidence for direct intervention
1) N-Back/Cogmed task shows improvement in working memory 2) Working on phonics skills helps improve reading and therefore coping with dyslexia as McDougan suggest we need to do
3 of 16
What is the conclusion of the Cognitive key question?
Need to find a way to improve working memory, the direct interventions on PC seem to but may not in reality, working with phonics is possible in a classroom environment, also avoids embarrassing the child for inability to read

What is the importance of the Social Key question?
Need to punish those that are responsible, whether it be those carrying out the actions or those giving the orders, must find a way to prevent the atrocities from occurring in the future
5 of 16
Give two pieces of evidence to suggest they are accountable
1) Cannot have been in the agent state if they are smiling in photos 2) Whistle Blower (Joe Derby) made them aware they could leave, in Milgram this dropped obedience to 10% compared to the original 65%
6 of 16
Give two pieces of evidence to suggest they are not accountable
1) Agency theory- Hofling had 21/22 nurses go against the orders (telephonic which is known to have less effect than direct orders proven by Milgram) 2) Zimbardo claimed everyone reacts to their environment, war is the worst kind and everyone would
7 of 16
What is the conclusion of the social key question?
It is possible that the soldier were acting under orders and flipped into the agent state to remove moral strain, however they could have easily withdrawn once they had seen someone else do so, it is also unlikely due to the photographs taken

What is the importance of the Learning Key question?
If social learning is correct in terms of media being a factor in anorexia we need to act as this is controllable and we need to prevent the occurrences, 90% are teens, 20% end up in hospital and 10% die
9 of 16
Give two pieces of evidence to suggest the media is to blame
1) Bandura Ross & Ross proof of imitation from vicarious reinforcement 2) Becker et al increase 12.3 to 27.9% >20 and 0 to 11.7% self induced vomiting, 80% blames media, 30% directly
10 of 16
Give three pieces of evidence to suggest the media isn't to blame
1) Methodological problems with reliability and PV of Becker 2) Biological explanation, serotonin receptors do not react with pleasure instead with fear 3) Freud, as a way to prevent ageing and sexuality we abstain from food
11 of 16
What did we conclude for the learning key question?
Media is to blame, if it was biological there would not be such a difference in male to female ratio, reinforced by conditioning but started by SLT
12 of 16
What is the importance of the biological Key question?
We need to protect the public from murderers and the only way to do this is by finding where murderers come from
13 of 16
Give two pieces of evidence to support that murders are made
1) 30% of the population have the MAOA gene but not all are murderers - Genain Quads 2) Brain damage once they are born (Donte Page prefrontal cortex from being dropped)
14 of 16
Give two pieces of evidence to support that murders are born
1) Levels of serotonin are often low and testosterone high, predominantly form pre-natal environment but may be diathesis-stress model (Mazur) 2) Raine et al concluded that the changes in the area of aggression were born there
15 of 16
What did we conclude from the biological key question?
Must be as a result of both, need to have a genetic disposition to increase the chance but the environment will trigger the actual event, people are not automatically programmed to kill instead the way they are raised affects if they do
