The piece is in rapid dual time, 6/8, in the style of a gigue. A basic motif made up of quavers and semiquavers, with occasional longer notes in the upper parts. Their is syncopation at bars 27-28. There is a feeling 3/4 bar 28 arising from hemiola.

The harmony is functional, diatonic, with chords mainly in root position and first inversion. Perfect cadences, suspensions, inverted pedals.
