What are confounding variables?
A variable under study which is not the IV, but varies systematically with the IV. To confound, is to cause confusion

They are a nuisance variable that are difficult to control

What is mundane realism?
Refers to how a study mirrors the real world.

What is validity?
Refers to whether an observed effect is a genuine one

What is internal validity?
The degree to which an observed effect was due to the experimental manipulation rather than other factors

What is external validity?
The degree to whichbresearch can be generalised to other settings (ecological validity), people (populations validity) over time (historical validity)
