You must be able to cope if your client has a seizure. 3 of 17 Cardiovascular conditions (e.g Hypertension/Hypotension, Thrombosis, Phlebitis, Embolism, Angina, Pacemaker A client with any Cardiovascular condition must have GP referral before treatment. If high blood pressure is well managed you may use your discretion. 4 of 17 High temperature or fever Do not treat. 5 of 17 Migraine Do not treat. 6 of 17 Recent operations (within 6 months) Do not work over recent scar tissue. 7 of 17 Unexplained swelling Do not work over undiagnosed lumps or bumps. 8 of 17 First 3 months of pregnancy Avoid massage during first 3 trimester. After 3 months, GP referral. 9 of 17 General infection (viral, bacterial, fungal or infestation) Do not treat. 10 of 17 Product allergies Always ask about allergies during consultation if using oils during massage. 11 of 17 Open wounds, cuts or abrasions Avoid affected areas. 12 of 17 Eczema or Psoriasis Avoid affected areas. 13 of 17 Bruising Avoid bruised areas. 14 of 17 Recent fractures Do not massage if occurred less than 6 months ago. 15 of 17 Recent scar tissue Do not massage over recent scar tissue (6 months or less). 16 of 17 Sunburn Avoid affected area. 17 of 17
