Germany called it a diktat. Which means a forced agreement.

What does the T stand for?
Trawl stands for territorial losses. Germany lost 10% of their land, they had to give the polish corridor away to give Poland access to the sea and the Anchluss was forbidden. This was the union of Austria and Germany.

The R stands for reparations. They had to pay £6,000 million in reparations.

The A stands for Armaments. They weren't allowed: conscription, tanks, submarines or airforce.

The W stands for War Guilt. Article 231 stated that they had to accept responsibility for the start of WW1.

In short, what happened in the Manchurian crisis?
Japan (a member of the LofN) had invaded and conquered Manchuria. It took the league nearly a year to tell Japan they should leave Manchur. Whereupon they left. The League couldn't send an army because they did not have the resources without America.

What was the Mukden incident of 1931?
The mukden incident was where Japan claimed that the train had been attacked by China so therefore invaded more.

The league was so ineffective because it took ages for them to take action, but when they did they were powerless anyway.

Why did Japan invade China?
Japan invaded China because they were having economic problems. The depression meant that people could not afford to buy luxury items. This was was Japan specialised in. For example, they produced silk.

The League took so long to act. China appealed to the League for help. They sent Lytton on a fact finding mission. By which time, the Japan were then finishing off the invasion. Japan were told the leave China, instead left the league, invaded Cmore.

The W stands for Weakness. Without America, the League was extremely weak because it needed their power as a driving force.

The A stands for America. As previously explained, America didn't join which meant that the main driving force was not there.

The S stands for Structure. The League had an extremely complex structure which mean that admin was extremely inefficient and slow. Moreover, the structure confused the people even working within the League.

The D stands for Depression. At the time that the League was around, there was a a very bad depression which meant there was little money for resources etc.

The M stands for members of the League. Some of the most powerful countries such as America didn't join. Furthermore, Germany themselves could not join. This meant that they could not be reprimanded because they weren't members.

Hitler invaded land that used to be his, the League did nothing. This made Hitler believe he had the capability to do more. He had more confidence so he did.

Hitler had never owned this land. He was trying to get more powerful.

The Nazi-Soviet pact of August 1939 was the agreement of Russia and Germany not to fight one another. This meant that Germany didn't have to worry about invasion from the west. He could focus his attention elsewhere.
