used for transferring multi-media web pages over the Internet. Used when downloading web pages.

File transfer protocol

When is FTP used?
used when copying a file from one location to another over the Internet. Typically used when uploading large files. It allows broken communication to resume and restart.

transmission control protocol

used to allow data packets to be sent and received between different types of networks.

internet protocol

What is IP used for?
used for setting out the format of the data packets and uses IP addressing system.
