Immediate Acces Store
The CPU must have access to data as fast as possible. Each piece of data is stored in the RAM so the CPU can retrieve it immediately. Each memory unit location has a unique address assigned to it
3 of 9
Arithmetic Logic Unit
This processes all data inside the CPU. It processes both mathematical and logical operations
4 of 9
Control Unit
This manages how data is processed by the CPU. Manages how the CPU and other components communicate e.g. communicating with a printer/USB. Executes all instructions provided by programs.
5 of 9
Register
Is normally used for a specific purpose, where data or control information is temorarily dtored. Some registers are used in the fetch-execute cycle while others may be used by the program being executed
6 of 9
Why are Registers much faster to access
As they have to be accessed so often
