Pathogens
Pathogens: are microorganisms that enter the body and cause disease. They cause communicable (infectious) diseases — diseases that can spread. Both plants and animals can be infected by pathogens.

Bacteria
Bacteria are very small cells (about 1/100th the size of your body cells), which can reproduce rapidly inside your body. They can make you feel ill by producing toxins (poisons) that damage your cells and tissues. (e.g. Sallmonella)

Viruses
Viruses are not cells. They're smaller than bacterium. They reproduce rapidly in your cells using the cell then bursting out of it making you ill. (e.g. HIV)

Protists
Protists are all eukaryotes and most single celled. Some are parasites that live inside organs and are often transfered by a vector.

Fungi
Some fuingi are single-celled. Others have a body made up of hyphae (thread like structure). Hypae can grow and pennatretae human skin and plants causing disease and producing spores that can spread.
