Colloids

?
what is a colloid oncotic pressure?
it is the osmotic pressure of colloid solution
1 of 5
What is dialysis?
diffusion of small molecules and ions from the colloid across the dialysation membrane eg cellophane which is permeable to small molecules and not colloid perticlaes
2 of 5
what happens when the lysosphere destabilizes (solvation layer which includes water molecules and hydrated ions)?
The colloid particles will aggregate to form a bigger particle and precipitate out. Salting out effect when the salt ions compete with the water molecules destabilizing it.
3 of 5
what is a protective colloid?
A protective colloid are substances that form a hydrophilic colloid solution stabilizing the hydrophobic colloid particles.
4 of 5
which is not true?
surfactants are compounds that increase surface tension (adhesive and cohesive forces)
