Main features of long term memory
Remember memories up to a lifetime - unlimited capacity - info is stored in connections (patterns of neural activity)

What is consolidation?
It is repeated exposure/ learning leads to permanent memory traces

What is episodic memory?
It reflects situations/events and autobiographical info - self referential: info is encoded in relation to the observer

What is context dependent?
Info is interrelated and embedded multiple events can be recalled as part of one memory - re-experiencing the context of a particular event can improve recall

It is knowledge about your world - organised into hierarchical model

Sentence verification - time to verify a statement depends on the distance between objects and attributes
