1 of 10
What is one part of the CI?
(CR)
Context reinstatement is when the witness is encourage to recall environmental features like the weather in hopes to give cues which help memory.
2 of 10
What is one part of the CI?
(RE)
Report everything is when the witness says every single detail, no matter of its seeming importance. Irrelevant details could be cues to more important information.
3 of 10
What is one part of the CI?
(CP)
Changing the perspective is when the interviewer asks the witness to recall from a different perspective like other witness' view. This allows us to vary our access to these memories.
4 of 10
What is one part of the CI?
(RO)
Reverse the order is when the witness tells events in backwards order. We try to access memories through different routes and we can try and use the recency effect to improve recall.
5 of 10
Who made the enhanced cognitive interview and why?
Fisher et al created more social links in the interaction so a relationship can be built. This includes more open ended questions, getting the witness to speak slower and discouraging guessing by being encouraged to say idk.
6 of 10
What is one support for the CI?
(different types of interview)
Gieselman et al found that the CI was more effective at recalling details than the standard interview or hypnosis. Less effective however for children aged 6 or under but works for 8 and over.
7 of 10
What is one issue with the CI?
(time)
Kebbell and Wagstaff (lol) say that this is impractical in real life as it takes too long and requires extra training.
8 of 10
What is one strength of the CI?
(most effective elements)
Milne and Bull found that the RE and CR were most effective together due to enhancing rehearsal. This means police can get the most info in time constraints.
9 of 10
What is one strength of the CI?
Fisher tested it on real witnesses in Miami and found that it increased the amount of correct info recalled.
