to understand the make-up of criminal personality.

Longitudinal study, over 14 years. Freudian therapy used to identify rot cause of criminal personality.

52 different thinking errors, categorised into 3 main categories: Crime related thinking errors; Automatic thinking errors – lack of empathy; Criminal thinking patterns – need for power and control. Only 9/30 made significant progress

Criminal personality is made up of 52 thinking patterns, which are considered t be errors in thinking. Also, Freudian therapy is ineffective in treating criminal personality

The assumption is that criminals think in a different way to normal citizens. According to this approach, criminal behaviour is a product of faulty thinking. They have errors and biases in the way they think - they have distinctive thinking patterns
