Can only hold a limited amount of information at any time.

information can remain Perminently unless their is some danger or distruption to the system

first it goes in through sensory memory store which it stays in briefly before either decaying or going to the STM store which has a limited capacity & duration. It then if not rehearsed is forgotten, if rehearsed then it goes to LTM
