What are it's environmental characteristics?
Low lying stretch of coastline. The southern end of the bay is composed of hard geology and rocks like chalk. The northern end of the bay is sand. exposed to SE/E wave but sheltered form SW waves

What is the resulting habitat?
These conditions have created a wide sandy beach, sand dunes and heathland.

What plantlife inhabits it and why?
Marram grass and lyme grass live in the sand dunes. Marram grass has folded leaves and lyme grass has waxy leaves. They both retain water in the dry and windy conditions.

What animal species inhabit it and why?
Short snout and spiny seahorse live there because of eel grass, only place in Britain where they breed. Reptiles like adders and slow worms due to heathland, scaly skin retains water.

How has the environment been damaged?
Popular tourist destination-many boats anchor in bay. Anchors ruin habitat for sea horses and fires caused by BBQs have once detroyed 6 acres of heathland.

How must the environment be conserved?
To allow sustainable use of the area, information signs have been set up to educate tourists of the hazards of fires. Boardwalks and fences protect the dunes. There is an ongoing battle to protect the seahorses habitat.
