These questions test how well you have understood the passage by asking you to pick out ideas you must remember.

Summary Question
STEP 1- Look carefully at the number of marks - 3 marks means 3 pieces of evidence to be found. STEP 2- Present your answer in a numbered format.

Directed Questions
Tells you to look at a particular section of the text to find the answer.

Meanings of words
sometimes you will be asked to pick out a clue near to the word or phrase in the text which makes this meaning clear. The word context may be used here. The context means the part of the text where the word is used.

Points of exam technique to remember
Find the answer within the lines you are directed to in the text. Note the number of marks available. Use your own words unless the questions asks you to quote. Note carefully what type of question/answer it is.
