What is meant by species?
A group of organisms with similar genes and features that are able to breed to produce fertile offspring.

Divides organisms according to differences that are useful at the time.They are described as analogous characteristics that have the same function but different evolutionary origins.

1.) Evolutionary relationships between organisms and ancestors. 2.)Classifies species into groups using shared features from ancestors. 3.) Arranges groups into a heirarchy.

Groups contained within larger groups with no overlap.
