In early classification, what evidence did they use ?

Observable features, due to little evidence or knowledge.

What are the dissadvantages of basing your classification on observable features ?

Scientists didnt agree on the relative importance of different features, also physical apperance may not show related they are.

Molecular evidence - simularities of protiens and DNA, and its sequence. Embryological evidence - the simularities in early stages of development. Anatomical evidence - Structure and fuction of body parts. Behavioural evidence.
