Only develop skills if provided with a LASS. Use speech above childs ability to help understand, adults change their language to help, repetition, encourage turn taking.

Labelling - Link between sounds of words and object they refer to eg Mummy for childs mother. Packaging - Words range of meaning, over/underextension. Network building - Similarities and opposites in word meanings.
