People from all over the world have brought their traditions with them, and they have been widely accepted. Examples include; the Notting Hill Carnival - originally from the Caribbean; and, spicy Indian food.

Why does the UK have a wide cultural diversity?
1700s and 1800s lots of refugees came from Europe to the UK. The UK was colonising at this time, so people from all across India, Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia were given UK passports and the right to live there.

1900s many of the colonies gained independence. Workers from these countries were recruited to work in the UK after WW2. Lots of immigrants arrived between 1950 and 1990.
