What is cardiac output
The total volume of blood pumped by a ventricle every minute
1 of 12
How do you calculate cardiac output
Cardiac output = heart rate * stroke volume
2 of 12
What does the heart pump blood through
Blood vessels
3 of 12
What is the heart made of
Thick muscle
4 of 12
How many chambers does the heart have and what are they called
The heart has four chambers the left and right atrium and the left and right ventricle
5 of 12
Where are the valves in the heart
Between the atria and ventricles
6 of 12
What do valves prevent
Back flow of blood in the heart
7 of 12
What is the right atrium for
Receive Deoxygenated blood through the vena carva from the body which goes to the right ventricle
8 of 12
What is the right ventricle for
Pumps the blood to the lungs
9 of 12
What is the left atrium for
Receives oxygenated blood via the aorta from the lungs which goes to left ventricle
10 of 12
What is the left Ventricle for
Pumps blood around the whole body
11 of 12
Why does the left ventricle have a much thicker wall than the right ventricle
Because it has to pump blood around the whole body at high-pressure whereas the right ventricle only has to pump it to the lungs
