Belongs to the vertebrata subphyla and includes all cartilaginous fish such as sharks and rays where instead of a bony skeleton they are composed of cartilage.

Ray finned fish have small simple bones in comparison to Lobe-finned fish where there bones are more complex, rigid and a bigger size.

What is the difference between the Notochord and Dorsal nerve cord?
The notochord is a rod shaped structure which is replaced by the vertebral column, whereas the dorsal nerve chord is modified into the CNS.
