What does development mean?
The maturing of the body and an increasing ability to do things

What does growth depend on?
The genes inherited from the parents, stimulus encouragement, health and nutrition, physical activity and exercise.

Why does height increase?
Because the bones lengthen and become larger and harder (ossification)

What does body fat depend on?
Characteristics, eating habits and age.

What head control does a newborn baby have?
When the baby is picked up or lifted into a sitting position the head falls back.

What head control does a baby of 3 months have?
The baby is beginning to control her head. There is less head lag.

The baby now has complete head control.

Learning to sit - Newborn
When a newborn baby is held in a sitting position she appears to roll up into a ball.

The baby still has to be supported but the back is much straighter.

Why is swimming good?
