Chemisty tests

Theses cards include all of the tets needed for the whole of chemisty (1,2 and 3) I have indicated what unit ech test is needed in. Please let me know if i have missed any out.

Test for hyrdrogen (1,2,3)
squeky pop test- place a splint into a test tube if hydrogen present flame will go out and squak.

Test for Chlorine (1,2,3)
hover damp litmus paper over the chlorine it should be bleached and turn white.

Test for oxygen (1,2,3)
place a glowing splint into a test tube if oxygen is present it should relight.

Test for carbon dioxide (1,2,3)
bubble gas through limewater if carbon dioxide it should turn cloudy.

Test for alkenes (1)
add and alkene into bromine water which is transparent orange liquid if an alkene is present it will become a colourless liquid.

Test for alkanes (1)
add an alkane to bromine water whcih is a transparent orange liquid the solution should remain that way.

Test for chlorie ions (2,3)
add silver nitrate and nitric acid (to react with other things that might be present) to the chloride solution. A white percipitate should be formed.

Test for carbonate ions (2,3)
add a dilute acid to produce carbon dioxide and bubble it through limewater the limewater should turn cloudy.

Test for sulfate ions (2,3)
add dilute hydrochloric acid and barium chloride to the sulphate solution a white percipitate should be formed.

Test for sodium (2,3)
Flame test- dip the test wire in the solution being tested and place over a blue flame on a bunsen burner. A yellow flame should be seen.

Test for potassium (2,3)
Flame test- dip the test wire into the solution and place over a blue flame on a bunsen burner. A lilac flme should be seen.

Test for calcium (2,3)
Flame test- dip a test wire in the solution and place over a blue flame on a bunsen burner. A brick-red flame should be seen.

Test for copper (2.3)
Flame test- dip a test wire in the solution and place over a blue flame on a bunsen burner. A blue-green flame should be seen.

Test for copper (ii) ions (3)
Percipitate test- add sodium hydroxide to the solution a blue percipitate should be formed.

Test for iron(ii) ions (3)
Add sodium hydroxide to the solution a green percipitate should be formed.

Test for iron (iii) ions (3)
Add sodium hydoxide to the solution a brown percipitate should be formed.

Test for aluminium ions (3)
Add sodium hydroxide to the solution a white percipitate should be formed.

Test for bromide ions (3)
halide test- add dilute nitric acid (reacts with other things) and silver nitrate to the solution a pale yellow percipitate should be formed.

Test for iodide ions (3)
halide test- Add dilute nitric acid (reacts with other things in the solution) and silver nitrate to the solution a yellw percipitate should be formed.

Test for Ammonia (3)
Hold damp red litmus paper over the solution it should turn blue.
