to test for carbonates you add acid and bubble through limewater, and a gas is prodced and the limewater turns cloudy

t test for sulfate you add dilute hydrochloric acid and add baruim chloride and you will get a white [recipitate of BaSO4

how to test for halides
add nitric acid then silver nitrate, and chlorine will produce a white precipitate, bromie will produce a cream prcipitate and iodine will produce a yellow precipitate
