What is an Isotope?
Isotopes are different atomic forms of the same element which have the same number of protons but a different number of neutrons!
1 of 8
Name some properties/uses of Nanoscience
They have a large surface area to volume ratio. Nanotubes are used to make stronger, lighter building materials. Cosemtics such as suncream and deodrant have been made using nanopartices. Nanotubes can also conduct electricity.

What are the 3 important steps to follow when calculating masses in reactions?
1. Write out the balanced equation, 2. Work out the relative formula mass - just for the two bits you want, 3. Apply the rule: divide to get one, then multiply to get all!

What is Paper & Gas Chromatography used for?
Paper chromatography: Is used to seperate artificial colours such as a food colouring might contain one dye or it might be a mixture of dyes. Gas chromatography: Can seperate out a mixture of compounds and help identify the substances present

What four things does the rate of reaction depend on?
1. Temperature, 2. Concentration (or pressure for gases), 3. Catalyst, 4. Surface area of solids (or size of solid pieces)
5 of 8
Name some ways that you can measure the rate of reaction
1. Precipitation, 2. Change in Mass, 3. The volume of gas given off

What is an EXOTHERMIC reaction?
An Exothermic reaction is one of which transers energy to its surroundings usually in the form of heat and usually shown by a rise in temperature
7 of 8
What is an ENDOTHERMIC reaction?
An Endothermic reaction is one which takes in energy from its surroundings, usually in the form of heat and is usually shown by a fall in temperature.
