Can you describe an experiment to extract the indicator from a plant material and test it?
We put different substances that we wanted to test into the red cabbage indicator e.g. Water (N) - Purple, Sodium Hydroxide (S Alkali) - Light Green, Hydrochloric Acid (S Acid) - Dark Pink.

How do you use Universal Indicator to determine it's pH?
To determine the pH reading you dip the pH paper or solution into the susbtance you want to test. Then you check the colour against the pH scale.

What are the products of neutralisation of an acid with an alkali? Describe an experiment to do this in a lab?
The chemical reaction between an acid and an alkali is called neutralisation. We heated 5cm3 Hydrochloric Acid and 5cm3 Sodium Hydroxide together in an evaporating dish. A white solid (salt) was produced. Acid + Alkali > a Salt + Water.

Describe an experiment of a neutralisation reacton involving an acid and a metal oxide in a lab?
We took a spatula of Copper oxide and added it to 50cm3 of Sulfuric Acid and stirred it we kept adding the Copper oxide until no more dissolved. Then we heated it and we added more Copper Oxide and stirred it while it was on the heat.

Describe an experiment of a neutralisation reacton involving an acid and a metal oxide in a lab?
We then poured the mixture into a funnel filled with paper and caught it in an evaporating dish. We then left the dish for 3 days and let it evaporate. It created Copper Sulphate crystals.

Describe an experiment of a neutralisation reacton involving an acid and a metal carbonate in a lab?
When Nitric Acid was added to Calcium Carbonate a gas was produced. The gas turned limewater cloudy. Calcium carbonate powder was added to nitric acid until no more would dissolve. The excess carbonate was filtered off.

Describe an experiment of a neutralisation reacton involving an acid and a metal carbonate in a lab?
The resulting solution was evaportaed to dryness forming crystals. Acid + Metal Carbonate > a Salt + Water + Carbon Dioxide

What are metal carbonates?
Metal carbonates are compounds that contain carbon and oxygen as well as a metal.
