Relative Atomic Mass(Ar), Relative Formula Mass(Mr) and Moles
Ar - Usually the same as the mass. Mr - Add up the Ar's. Moles - Relative atomic mass in grams.
1 of 6
Percentages by Mass
Can use Ar and Mr to work out percentage of an element in a compound.
2 of 6
Empirical Formula
1)Find the masses 2)Look up the Ar values 3)Find moles 4)Find the ratio(divide by smallest no)
3 of 6
Calculating Reacting Masses
In a solution containing 100g NaOH, how much clorine gas will we need?
4 of 6
Balancing Equations
N + H -> NH , Ca + O -> CaO, Br + Kl -> KBr + I
5 of 6
Percentage Yield
A reaction may not go to completion because it is reversible. Some of the product may e lost when it is separated from the reaction mixture. Some of the reactant may react in ways different from the expected reaction.
