measure out 50cm3 of sulphuric acid (any acid) into a 250cm3 beaker.

add a spatula of copper oxide(base) powder and stir the mixture untill it has reacted.

warm the acid using a bunsen burner. don't let it get hotter than 60c (we did not do this stage as this can be dangerous)

add copper oxide untill there is lumps of copper at the bottem.

filter the mixture.

evaporate half of the liquid and then leave to cool.
