do alkanes have a double bond or single bond?
they have a single bond.
1 of 8
what is the general formula for alkanes?
CnH2n+2
2 of 8
What happens to a liquid during its separation from a mixture by distillation?
Evaporating followed by condensing.
3 of 8
how would you describe small hydrocarbons?
They are more volatile. (reactive) so they are more useful in thigs like cars.
4 of 8
how can alkanes be described?
They are saturated.
5 of 8
the hydrocarbons that come out near the bottom have....
a high boiling point, not very volitile, does not flow easily, does not ignite easily
6 of 8
near the top of the colum for hydrocarbons the oils have....
lower boiling points, lower viscosity (they flow more easily) and higher flammability (they ignite more easily).
7 of 8
