Dimond and graphite are allotypes of carbon becuse they contain carbon but are differently formed.

Because they both have lots of strong covalent bonds.

Hard, shiny, colourless and clear, high melting point, insoluble in water, does not conduct electricity

Becuse when dimond is expertly cut it will will sparkle atractively in the light.

Becuse dimond is hard and has a high melting point so its downt melt when heated so it is useful for dimond tipped diskc to cut brick and concrete.

Why is graphite used in pencil leads and lobricants?
Because it marks the paper easily and is used in bike oils becuse the layers are held together by week forces so they can slide over each other easily.

Why can graphite conduct electricity but dimond can't?
Graphite can conduct electricity becuse it contains free electrons, where as dimond does not.

What is Buckminster Fullerene, and what is it used for?
Buckmister fullerene molecules are spherical and contain 60 carbon atoms. It is used in lubricants and catalysts.

High melting point, insoluble in water, black and opaque, slippery, conducts electricity.

Why do dimond and graphite both have high melting points?
They contain lots of strong covalent bonds so there are lots that have to be brocken. They need a huge amount of heat energy to be brocken. They have lots of atoms joined together.
