What is the relative charge of a proton?
Relative charge = +1
1 of 18
What is the relative charge of a neutron?
Relative charge = 0
2 of 18
What is the relative charge of an electron?
Relative charge = -1
3 of 18
What is the relative mass of a proton?
Relative mass = 1
4 of 18
What is the relative mass of a neutron?
Relative mass = 1
5 of 18
What is the relative mass of an electron?
Relative mass = Almost nothing
6 of 18
Where are protons found?
Protons are found in the nucleus.
7 of 18
Where are neutron found?
Neutrons are found in the nucleus.
8 of 18
Where are electrons found?
Electrons are found in the outher shells that orbit the nucleus.
9 of 18
What does the atomic number indicate?
The atomic number indicates how many protons there are inside an atom. The smallest number is always the atomic.
10 of 18
what does the mass number indicate?
The mass number indicates how many protons+neutrons are in the nucleus of an atom.
11 of 18
How do you find out how many electrons an atom has?
An atom has the same number of electrons that is does protns. (Atomic number)
12 of 18
How do you find out how many neutrons an atom has?
Take the atomic number away from the mass number.
13 of 18
How many electrons can be in the first shell of an atom?
2 electrons
14 of 18
How many electrons can be in the second and third shell of an atom?
8 electron (They are drawn in pairs.)
15 of 18
What is an isotope?
An isotope is an atom with a different number of neutron. Each atom would still have the same number of protons as if it didnt then it wouldn't be that element any more. E.g oxygen would still have 8 protons.
16 of 18
What is the overall charge of an atom?
neutral no charge, Protons and electrons have opposite charges
17 of 18
What is the overall charge of the nucleus of an atom?
the overall charge of the nucleus is positive as the protons have a +1 charge and the neutrons have no charge.
