Catalyst
changes the rate of a chemical reaction without being used up or changed chemically (so can be used multiple times, but eventually become poisoned with impurities) - they provide an alternative reacton pathway with a lower activation energy

a reaction in which the products can react together to form the original reactants

Methods of Extracting Copper
phytomining, bioleaching, scrap iorn, electrolysys

Phytomining
growing plants in soil that contain low-grade copper ore, thew plants absorb the copper ions and can then be burnt and the copper extracted from compounds in the ash

Bioleaching
bacteria is used to produce a solution of copper compounds (leachate) from waste copper ore

can be added to solutions of copper compounds to displace the copper
