What is produced when calcium carbonate and an acid react?
A calcium salt, carbon dioxide and water.

How do you test carbon dioxide in calcium hydroxide?
Make a limestone solution(add calcium hydroxide to water) and bubble a gas through it. The lime water will turn cloudy if carbon dioxide is present.

What causes the lime water to turn cloudy?
The formation of calcium carbonate.

What are the disadvantages of making cement?
Cement factories create dust which causes breathing problems and energy is needed (burning fossil fuels) to create it.

How does displacement in metals work?
The more reactive, the more metal bonds more strongly to the non-metal bit of the compound. This, pushes out the less reactive metal.

Useful products can be made, providing jobs for local people,it brings money into the area. Health and transport services can be improved.

The Earth's early atmosphere was rich in nitrogen, ammonia and methane. Lightning struck so these gases reacted to form amino acids which created life.
