solids are held in fixed positions . They cannot move around, but they vibrate.

The particles in a liquid are alos very close together, however they can slide past each other, which results in constant changes of direction

The particles in a gas have much more space, therefore they have lots of space to move around randomly

Sublimation is when a solid is heated and it chnages directly to a gas without ,elting ,i.e. it doesnt pass through the liquid phase
