What can be seen on an atomic emission spectra series
Black bands that show that electrons are at discrete energy levels and when it moves orbitals it absorbs or gives off light.
1 of 9
What are the basic principles of atoms?
Aufbau-electrons fill orbital progressively higher. Pauli exclusion - there is no more than two electrons per orbital. Hund's rule - electrons must fill degenerate orbitals partially before completely filled.
2 of 9
What are the different orbitals
s, p, d and f.
3 of 9
What is Valency?
The max number of univalent atoms that combine with an atom of the element.
4 of 9
What is the valence shell?
where the electrons that define the valency live?

What happens when a molecular orbital is formed?
In a molecular orbital you have a low energy orbital and a high energy orbital. When you have two electrons both can fill the low-energy bonds a bond is made. This is formed between the two nuclei.
6 of 9
What is antibonding?
Antibonding is when you have to low-energy bonds but an extra electron, there is no room left in the low energy orbitals so it has to fill a high energy anti orbital. This orbital is away from the nuceli and is denoted by an *.

What is resonance?
If a molecule can be drawn in two or more different forms 0=0-0 or 0-0=0 then the likely hood is that they are somewhere in between these two structures 0-0-0.

Beers Law.
A=Ecl. measures how much protein you have. A is how much light absorbance of the solution. E is the molar absorptivity. C is the concentration of substance in solution. and I is the how far light travels through solution.
