What is the principle of conservation of energy?
The statement that the amount of energy always remains the same. It can be transferred but not created/destroyed.

What is dissipation?
When energy is lost and becomes other sorts of energy such as heat or light. This energy cannot be regathered.

What is power? What is it measured in?
The rate at which energy is transferred.It is measured in Watts (W).

What is specific heat capacity?
The amount of energy required to raise the temperature of one kilogram of a substance by 1*C.

What are the different ways to stay warm at home?
Internal chimneys, good walls, loft insulation, carpet and double glazing.

What do we mean by renewable energy sources?
Energy sources that will never run out. They are (or can be) replenished as they are used.

What do we mean by non-renewable energy sources?
These sources will run out as there are finite reserves that cannot be replenished.

What other energy resources are there?
Nuclear power, biomass, tidal power, wind power, solar power and geothermal energy.

What is conduction?
The process by which heat or electricity is directly transmitted through the material of a substance when there is a difference of temperature or of electrical potential.

What is convection?
The movement caused within a fluid by the tendency of hotter and therefore less dense material to rise, and colder, denser material to sink under the influence of gravity.

What is radiation?
The emission of energy as electromagnetic waves or as moving subatomic particles.
