How did it increase the role of the federal government?
The war production board was set up in 1942, it organised and provided for the needs of war , by 1945 industrial production had doubled

How did it end to unemployment?
Conscription meant that more workers were needed and this put an end to unemployment , in 1939 unemployment stood at 9.5 million : thi shad fallen to 670,000 by 1944

How did it impact the internal migration?
Between 1941 and 1945 over 27 million Americans migrated mainly in search of better jobs

How did it impact playing a part in the war effort?
People were encouraged to dig 'victory gardens' to grow their own vegetables , Civilians were asked to give an hour a day for the USA to help the war effort , people were encouraged to buy government bonds to help finance the war effort- raised $129b

An extra 7 million women joined the workforce to add to the existing 12 million working women , they took jobs in aircraft , munitions and electronics factories which they had previously been excluded.

Traditional industries such as coal, iron , steel and oil greatly expanded ,/Arms production rapidly increased/ By 1944 the US producing half the weapons in the world
