Direct Changeover
The old system is replaced by the new system and users stop using the old system.
1 of 7
Parallel Running
Both the new and old system are run. Only when the organisation and users are happy that the new system does what it is supposed to then the old system is stopped being used.
2 of 7
Phased Conversion
This changeover can only work if the SYSTEM can be broken down into modules. Then each module can be introduced into the organisation a module at a time. E.g. A IT System has Sales and Accounts modules. Sales module would be implmented first.
3 of 7
Pilot Conversion
This changeover method can only work if the organsiation has many branches. We would implement the new system into one branch get it working in that branch first and then move to the next branch.
4 of 7
Adaptive Maintenance
Systems would need this maintenace if something in the environment changed. E.g. if the government introduced a new VAT rate then all Sales Systems would have to be changed.
5 of 7
Corrective Maintenance
This Maintenance type is used when errors occur with systems. Even though we may have tested the system extensively but some errors may still have got through.
6 of 7
Perfective Maintenance
This type of maintenance is not neccesary but is used to enhance the system further. This type of maintenance request can be seen as a success for a system. Examples include can the system now detail absences per subject in college register system?
